Sausage Ball Recipe

sausage balls

These Sausage Ball appetizers are great for entertaining. They come together quickly, freeze well, and can be baked up in a snap.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups baking mix (I use Bisquick)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 pound ground sausage (any kind), uncooked

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350.

In a bowl, combine all three ingredients with your hands - this can be done in a food processor if you’re squeamish about touching raw meat. When everything is incorporated and has a consistency similar to cookie dough, form it into balls about 1 1/2” in diameter.

If baking, pop the newly formed appetizers on to a cookie sheet about 1” apart and put in the preheated oven. Check after about 12 minutes - they’ll be nicely browned on the tops when they’re done.

If freezing, put them on a cookie sheet and place it in the freezer. When they’ve solidified (they don’t have to be rock solid, just firm enough that they won’t get mashed together if they’re touching), remove them from the cookie sheet and put in an airtight container in the freezer. When baking from frozen, add about 5 minutes to cooking time.
